In 1874, there was a young boy around the age of 7 named Charlie Stevens. One day, Charlie and his mother decided to visit a carnival. Charlie loved the smell of the carnival. The cotton candy, the popcorn. But what Charlie loved the most was balloons, so as soon as Charlie arrived at the festival and purchased a balloon from a strange man named Henry Helium. As soon as Charlie got handed his balloon, he accidentally let it go. As we look into space you can still see the big blue balloon. It has moon dust stuck all over it, but still hasn't popped. The last few years, scientists have been looking into this more. Today, scientists from NASA say that the balloon has traveled into the Milky Way and still is standing strong. A distant relative of Henry Helium, named Sheila Morgen states," The balloon hasn't popped because my great great great uncle was just pure genius." Although Sheila believes this, Charlie's great great great great grandson says, Cade Stevens, " My grandma had told me that she thinks that Henry was trying to poison or hurt Charlie because of how strong the "helium" in the balloon was. If it was normal helium then it would have for sure popped by now." Hopefully scientists figure out soon about why the balloon has really never popped yet.

    whale spotted in illinois river

A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri.

While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
