Following in the footsteps of TBS and WGN, KWQC is set to become a super-station in early 2018 as KWQC America in which programming from the local feed of KWQC such as the KWQC news (Quad Cities Today etc) and Paula Sands Live will be simulcasted on KWQC America which will take the spot of Cartoon Network's Boomerang after Turner Networks decided to close down Boomerang citing loss of the older audience they had due to replays of shows such as Flintstones and The Jetsons which are now rarely shown on the network. The current CEO John K. Martin was quoted as saying "Over the recent years, Boomerang was slowly cutting the older programs such as The Flintstones and The Jetsons and adding in more newer programming such as Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated and the latest Buggs Bunny show called Wabbit making the channel essentially a Cartoon Network clone which is not needed when we have two Cartoon Networks already. By removing Boomerang and moving it's programming to the main Cartoon Network channel, it should hopefully increase the ratings of that channel which have been down for awhile while Boomerang was losing the older adult audience at the same time due to the older shows from their eras being removed and replaced with shows geared toward the younger audience. Not long after we announced we were closing down Boomerang in early 2018, we got a call from KWQC's general manager Sue Ramsett who wanted to turn their station into a super-station ala TBS and WGN before they dropped the simulcast and added in original programming.. He asked if he could have our channel slot since we would no longer be using it and I said "sure!" so this is how this idea came about." One thing that will be absent on the super-station feed will be breaking news coverage from NBC itself and severe weather coverage from the local weather team meaning programming will not be interrupted for those events and will continue to broadcast normally unless you're watching on the local feed of the station. General manager Sue Ramsett was quoted saying "Whenever severe weather impacts the Quad Cities and we have to interrupt programming for the severe weather coverage, an influx of people will get mad that they're missing their Jeopardy or whatever due to the severe weather coverage which is one of the reasons for doing this. Nowadays, since most TV companies have DVR's on their set-top-boxes, you can just set up the programming on our super-station if severe weather is in the cards and has a chance of interrupting our programming for severe weather coverage (If you live in the QC that is, other markets TV programming varies). Plus, this will expose KWQC to a much wider audience never seen before outside of Antenna TV people who may get our signal WAY far away from our coverage area due to some anomalies. Overall, I think this will be really great in the long run." There are also rumors going around that iheartradio owned WOC AM will change its callsigns to KWQC AM to complement this change (both stations have a partnership together providing news and weather to each of the iheartradio stations in the Quad Cities area) What is not known is that if this change were to materialize, would WOC FM be revived as KWQC FM? WOC FM was previously the callsign used at 103.7 before it became top 40 as KIIK 104 and then eventually country when the country format at 101.3 (now KISS FM) moved to 103.7 in 1998 with the oldies format (as KUUL) being moved to 101.3. However, if the history of WGN is to be believed, it appears likely that there won't be a KWQC FM. Current KWQC owner Gray (who owns ABC affiliate KCRG in close by Cedar Rapids Iowa) has remained silent on this. Stay tuned for more on this story.

new york city woman loses her temper, causes black hole to swallow her entire town
Anna, 26, of New York City, DC was in the middle of an argument with a colleague when her temper got so out of control, it formed a small black hole, which demolished the vast majority of her neighborhood. "I just couldn't take it anymore, and unleashed my forces at the person who was irritating me. I had no idea the energy of my rage could cause such destruction," says Anna. Despite the ruination her anger has caused, Anna says she has no regrets. "I actually wish I knew I had this ability sooner!" Anna laughs. "There are a lot of people and things I could have eradicated from my life in this way."

whale spotted in illinois river
A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri.
While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
