President Trump to visit Chesterfield elementary school

CHESTERFIELD, Virginia (Feb. 3, 2017) -- America's newly elected president surprised even his own staffers this morning by announcing a cancellation of his planned weekend getaway to Mar-a-Lago in favor of a visit to Crenshaw Elementary School.

"Mar-a-Lago is a place that, you know, lots of people, people everywhere, talk about, because it's the best. It's the biggest, best resort and home, and I can't get enough of it," said President Donald Trump during an 8 a.m. White House press briefing.

"But, you know, I've told everyone that there is nobody else who cares about education and kids and schools and those sort of things more than me, and it's true, right? You've heard me say it," Trump continued.

"That's why I'm announcing today a visit to a school that is succeeding big-league in Virginia, Crenshaw Elementary in Chesterfield," he said. "This is one of the few public schools my incoming Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos, who will be approved to my cabinet -- don't worry about the fake news -- wants to highlight as one of the few great schools in our public systems."

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer followed up with a brief statement to the press that Trump will be accompanied by his daughter, Ivanka.

Brian Campos, principal of Crenshaw Elementary, issued a quick post on Facebook to parents to alert them of the surprise visit shortly after 9 a.m. today. Initial reactions from parents of school students ranged from exhilarated surprise to anger and condemnation.

Stay tuned for coverage of the visit.

    whale spotted in illinois river

A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri.

While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
