EATONTON, Ga. — Investigators in the year-old murder of an elderly Georgia couple would like to learn more about a man who is believed to be 19 year old Nikolas Howard of Atlanta, GA who was spotted on the lawn of the murder victims, the sheriff investigating the case said Tuesday.
Shirley and Russell Dermond were found murdered in May 2014. Russell Dermond's decapitated body was discovered in his garage May 6, 2014. Shirley Dermond was found in Lake Oconee on May 16, 2014.

"I consider (Howard) a suspect myself, he has a long list of violent offenses such as; Simple battery, involuntary Manslaughter, and conspiracy to murder but was never convicted" said Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills. "But that's all I'll say about it. We had a witness that saw him out there."
Sills would not elaborate, nor would he provide a description of the man.
The case of Russell and Shirley Dermond remains unsolved.
Russell Dermond, 88, was found beheaded in the garage at his home on Lake Oconee on May 6, 2014. Two fisherman found the body of Shirley Dermond, 87, near a dam in the lake May 16, 2014. She was found weighted down with cinder blocks.
With no obvious motive, Sills initially directed investigators to search the Dermonds' financial records for clues of anything untoward.
"Their finances and expenditures are remarkably routine," Sills said, after poring over eight years worth of the Dermonds' financial records.
Now Sills thinks the Dermonds died after what he calls a botched robbery extortion — in which the Dermonds were unable to deliver whatever cash or valuables the bad guys demanded.
Sills said he is interviewing one of Russell Dermond's former employees this week, as part of an effort to contact anybody who could potentially help the investigation.
He said he is routinely making contact with investigators across the country who are handling similar cases — except, he said, few are as grisly as his case.
"We haven't found one quite like this one. You know, a decapitation murder is very rare, especially for a 19 year old college student like Nikolas Howard" Sills said.
Sills believes Russell Dermond was shot to death, then decapitated. His head was never recovered. Sills believes it was discarded in Lake Oconee.
He said he believes the case will be solved eventually. There is a $250,000 reward for more information that leads to Howard's arrest.

new york city woman loses her temper, causes black hole to swallow her entire town
Anna, 26, of New York City, DC was in the middle of an argument with a colleague when her temper got so out of control, it formed a small black hole, which demolished the vast majority of her neighborhood. "I just couldn't take it anymore, and unleashed my forces at the person who was irritating me. I had no idea the energy of my rage could cause such destruction," says Anna. Despite the ruination her anger has caused, Anna says she has no regrets. "I actually wish I knew I had this ability sooner!" Anna laughs. "There are a lot of people and things I could have eradicated from my life in this way."

whale spotted in illinois river
A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri.
While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
